The Market Surveillance Panel released its latest semi-annual monitoring report on the IESO-administered electricity market. The report covers the period November 2012 to April 2013 and was submitted to the Ontario Energy Board.

The latest outlook from the Independent Electricity System Operator anticipates sufficient supply levels and transmission resources to meet provincial demand under normal as well as extreme weather conditions. The report covers the period December 2013 to May 2015.

TransCanada is holding a new capacity open season for firm transportation service on the Mainline in the Eastern Triangle region
between North Bay, Toronto and Montreal. The in-service date is November 2016. The open season includes requests for conversion from long-haul to short-haul contracts. The closing date for the open season is January 15, 2014.

The National Energy Board has released its report, Canada's Energy Future 2013: Energy Supply and Demand Projections to 2035. Over the next 20 years, the NEB anticipates energy production levels will exceed domestic requirements.

The Minister of Energy has requested that the Ontario Energy Board examine and report on TransCanada's Energy East pipeline project from an Ontario perspective. The OEB is to consult with the public, local communities and other stakeholders.

The Ontario Energy Board has increased electricity commodity prices under the Regulated Price Plan effective November 1. On-peak, mid-peak and off-peak prices all increase by 0.5 cents/kWh to 12.9 cents, 10.9 cents and 7.2 cents, respectively.
