President
Over a career of more than 30 years in the energy sector, John has experience in virtually every step of the energy supply value chain. He has worked in the energy utility sector, gas supply contracting and marketing, and natural gas storage. For more than 15 years, John has been advising large volume energy buyers on energy procurement and price risk management best practices. Over this time he has consulted for industrial consumers, commercial buyers and a broad variety of public sector buyers. John is adept at working with clients to identify not just their wants but also their needs, and developing innovative approaches to achieve effective solutions.
John has a degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration. He recently completed a two-year term as chair of the Energy Markets Joint Sector Committee of the Ontario Energy Association.
Managing Director
Noel brings to Aegent a breadth of knowledge and expertise in energy and water conservation and sustainability management consulting. He has over 14 years experience in the energy sector working with organizations, building owners and managers to reduce energy and water consumption in their portfolios, through his own firm and as a principal with energy efficiency performance pioneer Enerlife Consulting. Noel has developed and managed a wide range of programs and tools for public and private sector clients including municipalities, hospitals, schools, social housing and residential. He has consulted for a range of commercial and multi-residential property owners and all three levels of government.
Noel holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Queen's University.
Senior Consultant
Frank is a professional engineer, with over 35 years of experience in the natural gas transmission and distribution sector with Enbridge Gas Distribution and TransCanada PipeLines and as an advisor to end-users. Frank has extensive experience in the upstream gas supply and transportation market and in gas supply planning, gas acquisition, risk management, asset optimization, gas supply operations, and the development of strategies and policies related to gas supply and associated regulatory issues. Frank has testified before the National Energy Board and the Ontario Energy Board on gas supply and transportation facilities issues.
Frank has an engineering degree from Carleton University, and has completed the Executive Program at Queen's University.
Consultant
Sylvie brings a background of more than 10 years in gas operations and asset optimization. She has experience managing Alberta pipelines and gathering systems for a major Alberta producer, and administering pipeline and utility contracts on behalf of end-users in Ontario. She has extensive experience in managing day-to-day gas supply operations, utility and transportation asset optimization, storage management and transaction execution. She has developed and implemented business practices and reporting methods to ensure efficient, reliable and accurate operations and settlement processes and reporting to meet client information needs.
Sylvie has a business administration diploma from Ryerson University. Sylvie is fluent in English and French.
Consultant
As a consultant, Ronak is responsible for managing Aegent’s relationship with power and gas clients who are large users of energy. Previously, Ronak served in a variety of roles at the IESO/OPA including managing electricity supply contracts with power plant suppliers and managing project teams consisting of plant suppliers, natural gas utilities and external consultants. She has conducted research and analyses of issues impacting the electricity and natural gas markets in Ontario. As an Evaluation, Measurement and Verification (EM&V) analyst at the IESO/OPA, Ronak evaluated program design of IESO/OPA conservation programs and analyzed program results.
Ronak is a professional engineer, a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
Director, Research & Analysis
With 35 years in the natural gas industry, Val has a comprehensive background in pipeline and utility regulation, strategic planning and market analysis, with A.E. Sharp Limited, The Consumers' Gas Company Limited, and TransCanada PipeLines. In addition to having a thorough understanding of the regulatory process, Val has been directly involved in the research of current and emerging issues facing regulated companies and their stakeholders.
Val holds Honours Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees, both in Mathematics.
Energy Market Analyst
Peter is responsible for energy market analysis, energy risk management strategy, and energy transaction support. He provides ongoing surveillance of gas and power market conditions, and provides weekly and monthly market analysis and commentary to Aegent clients. Prior to joining Aegent, Peter worked as an analyst in the Asset Securitizations Group of TD Securities where his liaison role with the money market sales desk required skills in timely analysis in order to ensure proper funding, hedging, and investment decisions.
Peter has a Derivatives Market Specialist designation and holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and German Studies. Peter is fluent in both English and French.
Operations Administrator
Bernard is responsible for Aegent's day-to-day gas supply operations, reviewing gas supply and demand for clients, and ensuring clients operate within contractual limits. He also executes nominations to suppliers, pipelines and utilities and prepares month-end settlement and costs reports to meet client requirements. Prior to joining Aegent, Bernard worked at an environmental sustainability company analyzing and auditing client utility consumption data.
Bernard holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree from University of Waterloo and has a Certified Greenhouse Gas Inventory Quantifier designation.
Energy Analyst
Celia brings a range of energy market experience to the analyst role through her previous responsibilities with a major energy retailer. She has in depth knowledge of utility data management and quality issues which she uses to ensure Aegent’s high standard of utility data quality in its various client energy databases. Leveraging her engineering, CEM training and knowledge of energy customers, Celia also brings important expertise to Aegent’s energy conservation practice.
Celia has a degree in mechanical engineering and has taken the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) training.
